Movin' and Groovin'!

Dylan and I had a FABULOUS visit with our good friends Kelly and Lily!  Dylan wasn't sure what to do with another toddler in the house!  I was pretty proud of how well he did with sharing his toys and taking turns, for the most part.  We stayed very busy going to pools, the mall, Bonkers, and doing a lot of things at home - playdough, decorating cookies, fingerpainting, blowing bubbles, going for walks, and just having a good time!  Kelly and I are thinking that Dylan and Lily need to get married one day....we'd have all sorts of wonderful pictures for their wedding!  :-)

Packing for our big move is coming right along.  My mom came over today and helped me clean out my garage.  I've now gone through all of Dylan's baby clothes so that someone else can use them.  It was tough...I've been hanging on to them.  I'm not sure why, but there's something about giving away the precious tiny baby clothes!  It is nice to have a lot of extra room!

On the potty training front: I was ready to quit after the first day!  Dylan would not even sit on the potty ring that goes in the toilet, so I went out and bought a potty chair.  I found myself pushing it so hard that he was getting upset with me, so I decided to BACK OFF!  It seems to me that he is still a bit young, so I decided to listen to everyone's advice that he needs to do it when he is ready and go at his own pace.  So I started asking him if he wanted to go to the potty every time I changed his diaper, and at bathtime.  It seems that he now loves that!  Thanks to his wonderful daycare provider, he got an Elmo's potty songs book that is now his "potty time" book.  So he loves to go sit on the potty and read his book and chitchat with me for a while.  Then he gets up, cheers for himself, and moves on with his day!  That's as far as we've gotten so far, but I'm just happy that he's willing to try!  Tonight I was laying on the couch due to not feeling well and looked over to see him carrying his potty chair into the living room and saying "I pobby!!!"...so I made a big deal about that and we went on with our potty routine!  I am really learning the lesson that my child will do things when he is ready to do them!  And since I have really been trying to focus on that, I am able to relax and enjoy these moments much more!

A friend (thank you, Lori!) shared this post on her facebook status:

Biblical parenting doesn't come about by the changes we force on our children, but by the changes we allow God to make in us. A child when fully taught will be just like his teacher (Luke 6:40).

I love this, and am learning it first hand!
